  Why?

  • By being positionned at the surface with the turbine easily getting out of the water in 3 minutes, the device is much easier to build, repair, maintain, upgrade, neutralise, move and remove.
  • Floating at the surface the Hydro-Gen current turbines can easily be moved, towed, beached.
  • A regular marine device is 3 to 5 times cheaper that a comparable subsea device.
  • The kwh generated by our Hydro-Gen turbines is far more cheaper that the kwh generated by photovoltaic devices or diesel generators. Moreover, this energy (river current only) is not intermittent, and therefore does not need batteries to be stored.
  • Building and maintenance are standardized, like any vessel, and performed by a shipyard or a metal work maker, close to the exploitation sites.
  • Hydro-Gen integrates current proven equipments. The generator and the power converter are standard. We do not develop any specific technology or component.
  • The devices are removable, tough, lightweight (90% of the components are in aluminium or composites), possibly sent in container.

   

• Low depth:

Our current converters are well adapted to low depths locations, a situation frequently experienced where the current is strong in sea, river and estuary. The diameter of the turbine can easily be fitted to the depth.
